World Cup: Australia travel with 27-man squad

The Socceroos arrived in South America with a 27-man squad and will play their final pre-tournament match against Croatia in Salvador, Brazil before their opening encounter with Chile in Cuiaba on 13 June.

With three on-field players and one goal keeper to be trimmed it is a competition for places for the 23-man official World Cup squad and eyes are on one man, Ange Postecoglou.

The interesting points for selection will be how the Socceroos line up in midfield, with either two holding players or one. Shape and intensity of transition both from defense to attack and attack to defense will be a decisive factor in this decision. That aside the formation will likely be an in-fashion 1-4-3-3 formation.
